The Issue 

Gowanus needs a racial impact study before any proposed rezoning goes ahead.  It's crucial to know what sort of displacement might happen if this massive rezoning goes through, especially given how displacement typically impacts communities of color historically.  Otherwise, how can we make an informed decision about whether a rezoning should go forward or not? 

Council Member Lander's Strange Reluctance 

Council Member Brad Lander is a co-sponsor of draft legislation that would require a racial impact study prior to a rezoning.  Yet he refuses to require one for the very rezoning he is pushing!  He refused again when community members demanded a racial impact study last Thursday.  Why?  What is he afraid of?  We'd really like to know.
